Sale to a professional in the automotive sector remains exempt from this obligation: the mechanic or dealer takes care of the inspection after acquisition.
Cerfa 15776: check the version of the form before filling it out
The transfer certificate corresponds to the Cerfa form 15776. This document exists in several successive versions, identified by a suffix (for example *02, *03). Using an outdated version results in the rejection of the file by the ANTS, without explicit notification in some cases.
The only reliable way to obtain the up-to-date version is to download the PDF directly from the portal formulaires.service-public.gouv.fr. The version number is located at the top right of the document. Models hosted on third-party sites may be outdated, even if they display a recent date in their page title.
Sections of the Cerfa to fill out without error
The form is divided into three blocks: information about the vehicle, information about the previous owner, and information about the new owner. Each block must be filled out jointly by both parties on the day of the transaction.

Without this step, the seller remains responsible for any infractions committed with the motorcycle, including radar fines or towing fees. The third source of problems: registration certificate fraud. Recent investigations have revealed the circulation of fraudulent registration certificates associated with stolen or damaged vehicles.
